Jarltech: Hi David, would you please introduce yourself?
David Parras: I’m David Parras and I’m Sales Director, EMEA for BarTender enterprise labelling software. We’re excited to be launching a new version of our software, BarTender 2019.
JT: What does BarTender do?
David: BarTender software transforms a company’s information into the labels, barcodes, RFID tags, smartcards, packing slips and pallet labels that drive their business. BarTender is trusted by the largest global enterprises to run their compliance, production and supply chain labelling, but also by hundreds of thousands of smaller businesses around the world. BarTender offers our customers easy to learn, powerful design tools; comprehensive control to manage and secure the entire design and printing system; straightforward integration with existing data sources; and legendary technical support.
JT: Tell me about which industries use BarTender, and what they do with it.
David: BarTender is used across virtually every industry, whenever variable and itemlevel data is required on a label, barcode or RFID tag. In manufacturing, BarTender generates production line labeling, and bin and shelf labeling. For medical device labeling, BarTender provides UDI and MDR compliance labeling. In pharma manufacturing, FMD and DSCSA serialized labeling. We help the retail industry with barcode and RFID tagging, also supply chain traceability and transparency. Aerospace and automobile manufacturing rely on BarTender for compliance tracking and marking. BarTender is used in the chemical industry for GHS compliance and other hazard labeling. CPGs and food and beverage manufacturers use BarTender for both prime labeling and item-level traceability.
JT: What new features doe s BarTender 2019 have?
David: For label designing, we’ve enhanced our WYSIWYG capabilities, so that data sources may be inserted and modified more easily. We’ve also added new text features: transforms to enable prime labeling, and text wrap and fi t. Our data entry forms now allow buttons and actions, hyperlinks, data-sourced printer selection, and advanced form actions. We’ve also made signifi cant improvements to BarTender’s Administration Console – most signifi cant is the ability to automatically redirect a failed print job, or failover. We’re also excited that we now offer the ability to create a table in a label or document. This is going to make for more accurate packing slips and invoice documentation — the data on these documents can be grouped with their labeling, and their data sourced directly from the same information that populates the label.
JT: Sounds great.
David: With our new release, we’ve simplified our pricing models so that BarTender is the easiest labeling software to buy and sell, and now offer one year of free maintenance. Our partner program for resellers is also new. There are different participation levels, and we offer attractive price reductions and marketing support.
